Prepare clinic ad copy alternatives before the next legal review
A clinic’s advertising draft comes back with a comment: this wording promises too much. Instead of sending another isolated rewrite, prepare a small set of alternatives that address the exact objection. Colay can help generate and compare those alternatives from an approved brief. The useful result is a review packet with visible differences, not a prediction that a lawyer or advertising platform will approve the text.
Start with the objection, not eight synonyms
Copy review stalls when each new version changes several things at once. A reviewer objects to a promise, the writer changes the headline, and a new unsupported benefit appears in the body. Keep the disputed sentence, the reviewer’s comment and the permitted factual source together. Ask what must change in meaning before asking for a different tone.
This distinction has a concrete regulatory basis in some markets. The UK CAP Code’s health section requires evidence for objective claims. It is a UK example, not a worldwide checklist. Your clinic’s reviewer supplies the applicable jurisdiction, channel rules and approved claims; a model does not establish those requirements.
Build an objection-to-alternative matrix
Use a fictional clinic brief to make the exercise concrete: online booking is available, appointments are offered on weekdays, and the service description has already been approved. No claim about results is approved. The following is an editorial exercise, not cleared advertising.
| Draft issue | Alternative direction | Question for the reviewer |
|---|---|---|
| The headline implies a guaranteed result | Describe the available appointment instead | Does the complete ad still imply a result? |
| The booking process is vague | State that online booking is available | Does this match the current booking process? |
| A short version omits required text | Keep the required wording and shorten other copy | Is the final layout acceptable for this channel? |
Ask Colay for eight deliberately different candidates
Select available agents and use Ask separately to compare responses to the same permitted material. Request eight candidates across clear directions: factual, concise, process-led, appointment-led, explanatory, question-led, neutral and accessible. Eight here is the requested number of drafts; it does not mean eight independent legal reviewers.
Give each draft an identifier and require a source mapping. Discard any candidate that adds a clinical benefit or drops a restriction. Keep two or three meaningfully different candidates for the lawyer instead of forwarding the entire conversation.
Prepare 8 wording alternatives for this clinic advertisement using only the approved facts below. Reviewer objection: [exact comment]. Audience, market and channel: [details]. Locked wording: [text]. Approved facts: [source]. For each alternative show: draft, changed meaning, exact supporting source sentence, and unresolved question for the reviewer. Do not add clinical claims, testimonials, guarantees, availability or approvals. If an alternative requires a new fact, mark it as unavailable rather than inventing it.
Keep the approval trail attached to the text
An accepted headline is not approval for every surrounding image, landing page or later translation. If a designer changes the emphasis or a translated version strengthens the promise, return that final combination to the review process. The matrix makes this handoff easier because it records which meaning the reviewer actually considered.
- Save the original draft and its review comment under one version identifier.
- Compare each candidate with the approved source, including qualifiers, numbers and the call to action.
- Send the shortlisted versions with the matrix and the complete intended ad layout.
- Record the reviewer’s decision against the exact text, channel and date; apply only the accepted changes.
Measure fewer reopened objections
Track which objection each revision resolves and how often an already resolved point reappears. Also count variants rejected for introducing a new fact. These measures tell you whether the workflow improves preparation; the number of generated drafts alone does not.
Colay brings the drafting and comparison into one workspace. Its subscription has credits and limits, so use a short excerpt first and expand only when the alternatives are useful. The final publication decision remains with the people responsible for the clinic’s copy.
Questions, answered
Can Colay tell me which version will pass legal review?
No. It can prepare alternatives and expose differences against supplied instructions. A qualified reviewer evaluates the final text and context under the applicable requirements.
Should I send all eight versions to the lawyer?
Usually a short, annotated selection is easier to review. Keep the complete draft set as working material and send the options that differ in a relevant way.
Can I reuse an accepted version in another country?
Treat the new market, language and channel as a new review context. Preserve the factual source and ask the responsible reviewer what must be checked again.
