Colay / Guides
A practical AI workspace on Mac for teams working from Russia
If your working day is scattered across AI tabs, payment arrangements and copied prompts, start by simplifying the workflow you can actually use. Colay brings available models into one workspace and offers a macOS overlay for quick access. Check your account's access, catalog and payment conditions first: one interface does not guarantee every provider, region or standalone-app feature.
Check the working route before reorganizing your tools
Use a non-sensitive task to confirm that you can sign in, select the required agent and receive a usable answer. Check the subscription and credit information shown to your account. Confirm the actual payment method and conditions before making the workspace a dependency for client delivery.
Treat regional access, payment availability and model availability as separate questions. A successful page load does not answer all three. This guide does not promise access from every network, a particular card method, VPN-free operation or a way around provider restrictions. Keep a documented fallback for time-sensitive work.
Build a short loop around the work already on your Mac
The useful change is a shorter path from a real work item to a checked response. You still choose what information leaves the source application. Remove customer identifiers and internal details that you are not authorized to share; an overlay is not a separate privacy guarantee.
- Open the current Colay macOS app and confirm its shortcut in Settings. The default is ⌘⇧K; it is configurable.
- While working in your editor or browser, invoke the overlay and provide the relevant text yourself. Opening the overlay does not imply automatic screen reading.
- Choose one available agent for a routine draft. Use Ask separately when comparing approaches and Consensus when you need a synthesis.
- Check names, numbers and commitments before copying the result back into the working document. Keep the source material with important decisions.
Example: one project brief, three daily tasks
Fictional scenario: a designer in a small Russian-speaking product team has a permitted release brief. During the day, they need an English partner email, questions for a design review and a concise internal update. The same facts can support all three tasks, but the audience and acceptable tone differ.
Keep a local working note containing approved product names, dates and unresolved issues. Paste only the relevant part into each request. Do not expect one chat's context to appear automatically in another. The following task card helps keep a single workspace from becoming another collection of disconnected drafts.
| Task | Input to provide | Check before use |
|---|---|---|
| Partner email | Agreed facts and desired next action | Tone, date and absence of new commitments |
| Design review | Constraint and unresolved choice | Questions refer to the actual design |
| Internal update | Completed work and remaining blockers | No planned item presented as completed |
A reusable prompt for changing tasks without losing facts
For a disputed wording, ask for distinct alternatives and specify what may change: tone, length or order. Lock facts and commitments. Comparing variants is easier when the reason for each difference is visible. You do not need a multi-agent discussion for every small correction.
Working task: [task]. Audience and language: [audience, language]. Approved facts: [permitted material]. Unresolved issues: [issues]. Produce [format]. Preserve product names, numbers and dates exactly. Do not invent approvals, completed work or delivery commitments. List anything that must be clarified before I use the draft.
Decide what can genuinely move into one subscription
List the features you actually use in separate services: ordinary text work, specific file handling, specialized tools or a provider's unique application feature. Verify each required capability in Colay before canceling anything. Access to a model does not automatically reproduce its provider's complete app.
Account for Colay's credits and limits, remaining subscriptions and the time spent checking output. Keep a specialist tool where it serves a required workflow. Start by moving one recurring task into Colay and evaluating whether it produces a usable result with fewer manual handoffs. Expand from that evidence, not from the promise of universal access.
Questions, answered
Does Colay guarantee every leading model from Russia?
No universal regional or model-availability guarantee is made here. Check the current catalog, your account and applicable payment and service conditions.
Is the Mac shortcut ⌘K?
The default is ⌘⇧K. Check Settings because the shortcut can be changed. It opens the overlay; you then supply the task and review the response.
Should I cancel my other subscriptions immediately?
First confirm that the workflows and features you need work in your account, and compare the complete cost including limits and retained specialist tools.
